The client is one of the leading business aviation services companies in the world. Close to 6,000 employees cater to client needs from over 25 airport facilities throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia and North & South America. Jet aviation provides maintenance, completions, refurbishment, engineering, fixed base operations, along with aircraft management, charter services, aircraft sales and personnel services. The project site is located in Basel Switzerland.
Initial Observations

Objectives
- Prevent tools being lost
- Reduce damage and improve quality
- Reducing late deliveries
1. Part Tracking
- Installation of 3 main hubs for pick-up and delivery of the parts
- Creation of a standard internal delivery note, containing all necessary and important information to ensure correct delivery and handling of parts
- At all times the following details are known and accessible to staff :
- Sending details
- Dispatch Address
- Contact details in case of follow up or questions
- Aircraft / Registration number to avoid errors
- 'Special Notice' box to advise logistics employees of high value or special handling
requirements
2. Transportation Quality
- Parts handling awareness training for all involved to reduce the occurrence of damage
- Introduction of problem & countermeasure follow-up
- Pro-active team involvement to identify and resolve high damage risk areas. Eg. Add padding to parts shelving
3. Delivery Standardisation
- Creation of a time schedule for the truck drivers to pick-up and deliver the parts
between the 3 hubs - Introduction of standardised work charts for all logistics personnel in the process. Detailed work steps listed for each job classification. including:- drivers, parts handling and administration
- Introduction of problem & countermeasure follow-up to further improve the process

- Zero parts lost in the system
- Defects from damage caused by the logistics process reduced by 90%
- 100% confidence in parts delivery times achieved by standardised process
