KM&T Lean Evolutions, the North American arm of KM&T, has this week been highlighted as one of the most effective solution providers to the Canadian healthcare system by CBC's The Fifth Estate 'Rate My Hospital' special.
Working with St Thomas Elgin Hospital in London, Ontario, KM&T have helped reduce waiting times to the lowest in region, whilst improving patient safety, satisfaction and reducing costs through improved efficiency.
Recent press coverage of the changes has seen St Thomas Elgin Hospital singled out for praise, with both television and print coverage in the past week.
KM&T Lean Evolutions Managing Director, Scott Middleton, was keen to emphasise that the solutions put in place were intentionally non IT based. "At KM&T we look to keep things simple. Our philosophy is that the solutions we bring should be simple enough to be understood by those using them within seconds. The current status is highlighted on white boards for everyone to see throughout the hospital not just the emergency department. This combined with an effective daily huddle is driving the patient flow.
That approach has allowed us to engage everyone from top to bottom of the hospital and get them really involved in improving processes for the benefit of the patients."
